Pool Construction Process
. Installation Site and Surroundings
Prior to excavation, we will examine your new pool/spa area and will determine where the equipment will be located, how we will access the backyard with our equipment and if there is anything in the way of construction. If applicable, the location of the septic tanks and related drain lines must be identified, and we need to make sure the required setbacks are taken in consideration.
The layout will be decided based on your needs and wants. We provide a 3D pool design that meets your custom design as well as your budget. We will show you several pictures and samples to choose from. The estimated cost will be based on the shape and size of pool you wish to have.
. Permits and Inspections
Alfa handles the permits for you! Your permit paperwork is submitted to the County office for permit review and approval. During this time, it is the responsibility of the homeowner to submit any documentation necessary to their homeowner’s association for approval.
Also, detailed inspections are performed by County officials at different stages of pool construction. We will inform you once the inspections are done.
. Excavation
Most of the projects take around one working day to complete the excavation and remove soil from the yard. In case you wish to keep some soil for other areas in your yard, you would need to tell us prior to excavation.
. Plumbing
We will use state-of-the-art equipment to clean and purify the pool water. Pipe diameters are determined by calculating flow rates based on water demand including pumps, filters, and water features. The pipes run from your new pool to your new pool equipment and are pressurized to be sure there are no leaks and to pass county inspections.
. Steel
After excavating the pool site, we build a rigid framework of steel rods, sturdily wired together. Then, using extremely high-pressure, the gunite is blown into the steel frame and the surface is hand-trowelled to the desired smoothness.
. Pool Shell
We will apply a concrete mixture under great pressure around the steel reinforcing rods to bond them tightly. This will give superior strength to the pool.
. Electrical
We will get licensed electricians to look into your main electric service and connect the filtration & lighting system.
. Tile
Once the gunite has set and fully dried, installation of tiles is done while considering the waterline of the interior of the pool. Each piece tile will be cut and set individually to ensure there are no feathered grout joints. Deco tiles and designs are added based on your color selections. We will give you many options to choose from, as tiles come in a variety of colors and designs.
. Coping
We lay the coping around the pool’s perimeter. You can choose between stone or safety-grip brick.
. Decking
The decking surrounding the pool can be made of stone, grass, brick, concrete, or any other suited material. It is the final stage before we apply the pebble or plaster interior and fill the pool.
. Pebble or Plaster Interior
We will install your choice of pebbled or plastered interior and cover the shell.
. Gas Line
We will install gas lines, if your pool has a gas-fueled heater.
. Pool Start-up
Water will be filled in the pool from your garden hose or any other source. Once the pool is filled, we will show you how to start up the equipment and what chemicals should be added to keep the water clean.
